Description:
This PhD project will investigate the processes controlling heavy rare earth element (HREE) mineralisation within the Mt Weld carbonatite system.
Key research questions include:
- Distribution and mineral hosts of HREEs (e.g. churchite) within the carbonatite sequence
- Evidence for re-mobilisation and re-distribution of HREEs due to hydrothermal processes
- Partitioning of HREEs through the magmatic sequence and evolution of the deposit
- Comparison of Mt Weld mineralisation with other HREE-enriched carbonatites globally
