AU Mistrel Fetzer Boegheim

Adelaide University, PHD

Mistrel is pursuing a PhD at the University of Adelaide under the supervision of Prof. Carl Spandler. Her research investigates the processes controlling heavy rare earth element (HREE) mineralisation within the Mt Weld carbonatite system in Western Australia. By examining mineral hosts, hydrothermal re-mobilisation, and elemental partitioning between magmatic phases, her work aims to advance understanding of HREE enrichment in carbonatite systems and inform exploration strategies for Australia’s critical mineral resources.

Mistrel holds a Bachelor of Geology with Distinction from James Cook University and a First-Class Honours degree in Geology from the University of Adelaide, where she examined rare earth alkaline rocks in Central Queensland. She currently works as a mine geologist at Lynas Rare Earths’ Mt Weld operation, gaining extensive experience in grade control, drilling program management, QA/QC, and geological modelling.

A recipient of the 2018 QCoal Foundation Scholarship and the 2021 AusIMM EEF Scholarship, Mistrel is passionate about advancing Australia’s rare earth and critical minerals industry through both research and practice.
