Melika Mostafavi is a PhD candidate working on the bioleaching of hyper-enriched black shales project, a collaborative initiative between the Australian National University, CSIRO, and Bellavista Resources. Her research is based at the CSIRO Waterford site under the supervision of Dr Anna Kaksonen and Dr Ka Yu Cheng, with academic support from Prof John Mavrogenes and Dr Samantha McGaughey.
Melika’s work explores microbial processes and geochemical techniques to support the recovery of critical metals from complex ore systems. She has a particular interest in applying XRF and ICP-MS methods to characterise leachates and understand metal mobilisation pathways.
Her project is supported by Bellavista Resources and forms part of the Centre’s broader efforts to advance sustainable mineral processing technologies.
