ANU Jemi Ahnaf

Australian National University, PHD

Jemi Ahnaf is pursuing a PhD in Earth Sciences at The Australian National University under the supervision of Prof. John Mavrogenes. His research focuses on understanding the conditions and processes that lead to the formation of lithium deposits to enhance exploration and sustainable extraction strategies for this critical resource. By advancing the understanding of metallogenic processes, Jemi’s work will contribute to improved exploration targeting for lithium-rich pegmatites, supporting Australia’s leadership in the mining and supply of critical minerals.

Jemi is an experienced geologist with a strong background in mineral exploration. His expertise includes drilling supervision, lithology and alteration mapping, core logging, and geological modelling. He has worked on various exploration projects in Indonesia, including gold, coal, and oil, where he supervised drilling operations, conducted geological mapping, and analysed samples for lithology, alteration, and mineralisation.
Jemi holds a Master of Science in Earth Sciences from The Australian National University, where he completed his thesis on the ore genesis of sediment-hosted copper deposits in the Mt Isa Western Succession.
