Dr Zsanett Pintér is a research scientist in the Microbeam Laboratory in Melbourne, which is part of the Advanced Characterisation Facility within CSIRO Mineral Resources. Zsanett is an experienced experimental geoscientist, geochemist, and geologist. She brings international experience, having trained and worked in Hungary, Germany, and Australia, including roles at the Bayerisches Geoinstitut, Macquarie University, Monash University, and now CSIRO. Prior joining CSIRO, she has worked on high-pressure, high-temperature experimental studies of mantle petrology and melt-rock interactions applied to diamond petrogenesis as well various natural rocks from mantle depths up to meteorites utilising SEM based techniques (EDS and EBSD), EPMA microanalysis / mapping, various spectroscopic techniques (FTIR, Raman, Mössbauer), TEM, and synchrotron-based techniques (XANES). Zsanett specializes in high-resolution microanalysis, hyperspectral cathodoluminescence, mapping in the electron microprobe solving geological and industrial problems related to the minerals processing and exploration. Zsanett has an extensive knowledge working on multiple types of critical mineral deposits, including Antimony-Gold, Copper-Cobalt, Lithium pegmatites, Rare-Earth (RE) deposits associated with Carbonatites, Alkali Igneous rocks, Heavy Mineral Sands, Iron oxide-Copper-Gold and Ionic RE Clay deposits.
As a mentor, Zsanett is passionate about supporting the growth of independent geoanalysts. She offers not only deep technical expertise but also a thoughtful, analytical perspective that can help students and early-career researchers build confidence and capability in applying advanced analytical techniques to real-world mineral resource challenges.
