Dr Yanbo Cheng is a Senior Mineral Systems Geoscientist at Geoscience Australia, with extensive experience in mineral systems, regional mineral potential assessment, and economic geology. He has worked in Australia, Norway, and China, with previous experience as an academic researcher and exploration geologist. Yanbo holds PhDs from James Cook University and China University of Geosciences (Beijing), reflecting his deep expertise in geology, mineralogy, petrology, geochemistry, and mineral deposits.
Yanbo enjoys interacting with students and early-career professionals and believes mentoring is a great way to develop collaborations between researchers in universities, government and industry. He brings a practical, field- and research-informed perspective on mineral systems, providing mentees with insights into both scientific research and applied geoscience.
