Jason Bennett is a Senior Spectral Mineralogist and co-owner of Portable Spectral Services (PSS) in Perth, where he delivers concise, reliable mineralogical identification and characterisation to support advanced spectral analysis. Originally from Canberra, Jason earned his undergraduate degree in geology at ANU, followed by industry experience in BHP Billiton’s graduate program, working in both exploration and mining for iron ore in the Pilbara.
He later completed a PhD at the University of Western Australia, investigating the chemical variability of cassiterite growth microstructures to better understand ore-forming processes in Sn-bearing mineral systems, research he continues to pursue. Jason’s background spans mineralogy, geochemistry, and petrology, combining academic research with practical industry insights.
