Deepyaman Saha is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Earth Sciences at the University of Western Australia, supervised by Professor Tony Kemp. His research focuses on developing a process-driven understanding of lithium–cesium–tantalum (LCT) pegmatite systems.
Before commencing his PhD, Deepyaman worked as a Research and Teaching Assistant at St. Francis Xavier University in Canada, where he investigated the age and petrogenesis of LCT pegmatites in southern Newfoundland, a project in collaboration with the Geological Survey of Newfoundland and Labrador, Sokoman Minerals Corp., and Benton Resources Inc. He has field experience across Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and the Singhbhum Craton in India. His research findings were presented at major conferences in Canada including PDAC, AGS, and CTG.
Deepyaman holds a Master of Science in Geology and brings practical experience in igneous and metamorphic petrology, geochemistry, geochronology, GIS, and geological mapping. He has also worked in mineral exploration with Tandem Exploration in Canada and NMDC Limited in India and has contributed to technical communication and translation projects aiming to improve livelihood of marginalised communities. At UWA, Deepyaman aims to advance understanding of critical metal-bearing pegmatites to support more effective exploration and resource assessment of lithium and other critical minerals essential to the global energy transition.
