Cooper has had a strong and varied academic progression within Earth Sciences at the University of Adelaide. He completed his Bachelor of Science in 2023, graduating with a major in Geology (Geophysics), and his Honours program in Geology in 2024, graduating with First Class Honours. His Honours thesis focused on a rare type of meteorite, enstatites, where he analysed their mineralogy and chemistry to observe how metals partitioned into minerals within a highly reduced formational environment.
He has also had a large involvement within student programs, acting as the Treasurer of the Adelaide University Geological Society in 2023, and representing the Honours Cohort as their representative in 2024. He also had the opportunity to attend the National Exploration Undercover School (NExUS) program in 2024
