AU Janay Will

Adelaide University, PHD

Janay Will is undertaking a Master of Research at Adelaide University under the supervision of Prof. Carl Spandler and Dr Laura Morrissey. Her research investigates the mineralogy and geochemistry of the Hillside Copper Deposit in South Australia, with a particular focus on characterising copper minerals within the weathering zone.

Through close collaboration with Rex Minerals and the Geological Survey of South Australia, her project aims to strengthen links between mineral exploration, ore characterisation and mineral processing, contributing to improved understanding of one of South Australia’s next major copper developments.

Janay holds a Bachelor of Science (Advanced) in Geology & Palaeontology from the University of Adelaide and has developed extensive industry experience through roles with EnviroCopper, Rex Minerals and Bluestone Mines Tasmania at Renison Bell.

These positions have provided hands-on experience in exploration and production geology, including drill core logging, geological mapping, resource modelling, geochemical sampling and mine operations. She is also actively involved in communities like the AusIMM and AIG to help bridge the gap between university students and industry partners.

Passionate about pursuing a career in the minerals industry, Janay is committed to delivering industry-relevant research that supports Australia’s future critical mineral and copper resources.
