Jayant Yadav is pursuing a PhD in Earth Sciences at The Australian National University under the supervision of Prof. John Mavrogenes, Dr Ignacio González-Álvarez (CSIRO), Dr Paul Duuring (GSWA) and Dr. Joëlle D’Andres (ANU). His research focuses on understanding the formation of rare earth element (REE) and high field strength element (HFSE) deposits in deeply weathered carbonatite systems, with the aim of improving exploration models and geochemical detection strategies for critical minerals.
Jayant brings strong technical expertise in sediment core handling, sample preparation, and analytical geochemistry, with experience using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS), optically stimulated luminescence (OSL), ion chromatography, and liquid scintillation counting. He previously worked as a Project Associate at the CSIR–National Geophysical Research Institute in India and has contributed to published research on REE enrichment in sedimentary systems and mineralogical analogues relevant to planetary science.
Jayant holds a Master of Science in Geological and Earth Sciences from Osmania University, India, and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the same institution. His research will contribute to advancing Australia’s understanding of REE ore genesis, supporting sustainable exploration strategies and strengthening critical mineral supply chains aligned with ESG objectives and the global energy transition.
