Angus Netting is the SEM Product Manager at NewSpec, based in Adelaide, where he supports researchers and laboratories across Australia with advanced electron microscopy solutions. Before joining NewSpec, Angus led Adelaide Microscopy at the University of Adelaide for over a decade, following more than 20 years working in microscopy and microanalysis roles within the university and the Ian Wark Research Institute at the University of South Australia.
With deep expertise in research infrastructure management, SEM, EPMA, and LA-ICP-MS, Angus has extensive experience overseeing major core facilities, guiding technical staff, and building strong collaborations between academia and industry. He also served as President of the Australian Microbeam Analysis Society (2019–2021), reflecting his leadership and long-standing commitment to the microscopy community. As a mentor, Angus brings a wealth of non-academic career experience, offering valuable insights into alternative professional pathways in research infrastructure and technology management. He provides practical advice on staff leadership, managing up and down, and effective engagement with industry partners.
